I signed up to this course in the hope to:
a) extend my experience, skills and knowledge about e-learning and digital cultures as I hope to teach a degree course through online learning.
b) experience what it is like to be an online learner to enable me to empathise with students.
c) experience what it is like to be a participant of a MOOC community.
d) continue being challenged and motivated to try new things.
e) build confidence in interacting with others through an on-line forum (not being a digital native).
Already I can see that I am going to spend hours on this course, and that there will be an enormous amount of new material to absorb. It is exciting and yet a bit mind boggling already and it is only day one.
After reading the general introduction for the course it seems that the lessons will be delivered in 2 week blocks. During this time it is anticipated that I will contribute to two or more of the following:
a) Post comments on the discussion board for each weekly topic
b) Blog my responses to the topic, tagging them with #edcmooc so that they feed into our daily EDC MOOC News mashup
c) Set up or join a room in Synchtube to discuss the film clips in real time with your peers
d) Create an image or other visual representation of your response to the topic and post it in a social media space. Tag it with #edcmooc
e)Tweet my thoughts - particularly if you can give a link to a blog post or other online artefact - to #ed
I had a little brose to explored a little of what has happened on day 1. Wow there are people everywhere, some have been at it since November 2012. I had a look at the EDU MOOC News and checked out some blogs and realised I should get my act together.
1. Created a new Blog on Blogger (this is it).
2. Signed up to Storify following the suggestions from Angela as I had not used this before:

I think my storify will be a useful tool to use for my up and coming trip to Turkey.
3. Added my location to the google maps as suggested by the Blog posts.
